Description :

In the serene but isolated Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh, bordered by Myanmar, Nagaland, and Assam, the Wancho people grapple with a legacy of opium addiction – a vestige of a colonial past where the British used this addiction as a tool to subjugate and weaken the once indomitable spirit of this tribal community. This deeply entrenched habit has continued to shadow the Wanchos, lingering as a bane even amidst the dawn of civilization and technological progress.

Adding to this historical affliction, a new and more sinister wave of drug abuse has emerged among the youth. The introduction of modern narcotics like heroin and cocaine, smuggled in from across the Myanmar border, has exacerbated the situation. This alarming trend not only threatens the very fabric of Wancho society but also hinders their journey towards progress and equality in this digital age.The addiction to drugs and Narcotics especially by youths can be termed as a collective suicide.

Despite valiant efforts by civil societies, government initiatives, and proactive youths, the battle against this drug menace has seen repeated setbacks. The urgent requirement for the welfare government is to nurture a drug-free environment, laying the foundation for an inclusive and dynamic society where every citizen can thrive. The development of human resources stands as a cornerstone for societal growth.

In this critical hour, the time has come to rise against these destructive practices and align with the pace of modernity. The ‘New Life Campaign’ emerges as a beacon of hope in this dire scenario. It’s not merely a campaign; it’s a movement dedicated to turning the tide. By focusing on deaddiction, we aim to offer a lifeline, a second chance for those ensnared in the clutches of drug abuse – a practice that, while traditional, has had untold and devastating consequences.

We are rallying support through a donation campaign, seeking to empower this initiative. Our goal is clear: to break the chains of drug dependence, to enlighten and rehabilitate, and to pave the way for a brighter, drug-free future for the Wancho community A kind of vocational training, skill-oriented programme and livelihood schemes will be provided to them after de-addiction and bring them back to normal life with sole aim to create and rediscover newest Society free from drug abuses and social evils. Join us in this pivotal journey of transformation, where each contribution can help reshape lives and restore hope.
